When it comes to your turf, regular maintenance is required to achieve a healthy long-lasting lawn that is as vibrant as it is strong.
You will want to commit to a good maintenance programme as this will help protect your investment and also save you time and money in the long term.
1. Water once installed
Maintenance starts from the very second you lay your turf. You must water your freshly installed lawn within 30 minutes of laying your turf to encourage quick establishment.
2. Give your lawn a daily water
Water daily, depending on weather conditions, until it is firmly rooted. Check the rooting by carefully lifting a corner of the turf after 10 – 14 days.
3. Mow once established
Your new lawn should be mowed within 10 to 14 days, depending on the season. The first mow should be a light trim, making sure not to scalp your new lawn.
4. Maintain a mowing height
Once your lawn is firmly established, you should mow it to a desirable height and maintain it at this level as much as possible.
5. Mow to the season
Lawns require more mowing in the summer months and less as the temperature drops. It will need little to no mowing at all during the winter.
6. Water to the weather
Your lawn, like all garden plants, needs a healthy watering and the amount of water it needs will depend on the weather conditions.
7. Fertilise through the year
Fertilising will help build your lawns health. We recommend you fertilise your lawn 6 times a year with a good lawn food. It is always good practice to use a fertiliser that is made for your specific variety.
8. Water after fertilising
You must always water your lawn immediately after fertilising. This way you can reduce the chance of your grass burning and can allow the fertiliser to activate.
